Who We Are
Sudanese Women of Peace (SWOP) is a non-governmental organisation established in 2025 to empower Sudanese women both within Sudan and across the diaspora.
In the face of conflict and instability, Sudanese women have remained at the forefront of resilience, peacebuilding, and advocacy. SWOP exists to transform this resilience into leadership, innovation, and meaningful participation in shaping society.

Our Objectives
Peace Participation
- Increase women’s representation in peace negotiations and reconciliation agreements.
- Capacity building for women leaders and peacebuilders.
- Establish and activate local women’s networks for conflict monitoring and early warning.
- Strengthen women’s roles in transitional justice and trust-building.
Protection & GBV
- Provide comprehensive psychosocial, medical, legal, and social support to survivors of GBV.
- End the culture of impunity for perpetrators of violence against women and girls.
- Enhance security and protection for women during and after conflict.
Economic Empowerment
- Provide vocational training and entrepreneurship opportunities for women affected by conflict.
- Ensure women’s and girls’ access to quality education and reproductive health services.
- Support women’s role in natural resource management and related conflict resolution.
Peace Culture
- Revive and strengthen traditional peace and reconciliation mechanisms led by women.
- Implement community awareness campaigns on women’s role in peace and security.
- Build alliances and partnerships with civil society organisations, religious leaders, and youth.
Advocacy & Policy
- Advocate for the implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1325 on Women, Peace, and Security, and Resolution 2255 on Youth, Peace, and Security at the national level.
- Monitor and document violations of women’s rights during and after conflicts and publish evidence-based reports.
- Influence policy-making and legislation to guarantee women’s rights and empowerment.
